If you’re looking at all-inclusive resorts for a vacation, worrying is probably the last thing on your to-do list. At an all-inclusive resort, guests shouldn’t have to worry about a thing—they’re free to eat all they want and do what they want. Unfortunately, not all guests have this luxury at an all-inclusive resort. For LGBTQI travelers, there are still many places in the world where they don’t feel accepted and struggle to express themselves, even while on vacation.
All-Inclusive Gay-Friendly Resorts
Gay resorts, which cater specifically to LGBTQI travelers, tend to be on the smaller side with more modest accommodations. So if you’re looking for a big sprawling result that doesn’t go light on the luxury, there are plenty of gay-friendly resorts out there to suit your fancy. After taking into consideration traveler reviews as well as the LGBTQI culture and level of acceptance in each destination, I’ve found some truly luxurious, all-inclusive, and gay-friendly resorts around the world. These all-inclusive resorts don’t cater specifically to an all-gay clientele but welcome all guests who wish to enjoy a beautiful destination with their loved ones.
Valentin Imperial Riviera Maya, Mexico
LGBTQI travelers looking to visit the Gulf of Mexico should head to the Riviera Maya, particularly the Valentin Imperial. This adults-only all-inclusive has received many positive reviews from LGBTQI travelers on TripAdvisor (SmarterTravel’s parent company) and is an elegant luxury resort on a secluded beach called Playa Secreto. This sprawling resort is equipped with eight restaurants and 11 bars, making it a great spot for LGBTQI travelers looking to plan a destination wedding or honeymoon.
Walt Disney World Resorts, Orlando
At Disney World in Orlando, there are many organized events during Pride Month, such as Gay Days on the first Saturday in June. The event is not officially organized by the park, but last year the park released a special rainbow edition of Mickey Mouse ears, which many believe shows its support for their event. Disney World Resorts are recognized as a partner of the International Gay & Lesbian Travel Association (IGLTA) and many guests have reported good experiences online, so LGBTQI travelers can have their pick when it comes to Disney all-inclusive resorts like Disney’s fun-packed Caribbean Beach Resort.
Club Med Columbus Isle, Bahamas
On the remote island of San Salvador in the Bahamas, all travelers can enjoy world-class diving, and if they choose to stay at the colorful Club Med Columbus Isle, LGBTQI travelers will find a welcoming and tolerant environment. This colonial-style resort is a paradise on a turquoise blue water and has a good reputation among LGBTQI travelers. In fact, LGBTQI-focused travel agents offer organized trips specifically to this resort.
Grand Palladium White Island Resort and Spa, Ibiza, Spain
As one of the most famous gay destinations in the world, Ibiza is an amazing place for LGBTQI travelers, especially if they’re looking for a party. This Mediterranean island off the coast of Spain offers many accommodation options, but for travelers seeking all-inclusive luxury and relaxation, the Grand Palladium White Island Resort and Spa is a perfect choice. With a contemporary design and amenities like a fully equipped gym, three pools, a teen club, and extensive sports facilities, this hotel offers a lot for travelers looking for a getaway in the famously gay-friendly resort town of Ibiza.
Hyatt Ziva, Puerto Vallarta, Mexico
For LGBTQI travelers, no large hotel brand has a better reputation than Hyatt, which has been honored 14 years in a row as one of the Best Places to Work for LGBTQ Equality. Hyatt has two all-inclusive brands with locations throughout Mexico and Jamaica: the adults-only Hyatt Zilara and the family-focused Hyatt Ziva. The Hyatt Ziva in Puerto Vallarta is a great option for travelers wanting to experience the LGBTQI-friendly Mexican city at this resort equipped with swim-up suites and oceanfront views.
