Our very own Kerri Zeil, Head of Amadeus for Startups, joined Voyager HQ’s Managing Director John Matson to discuss the evolution of Amadeus’ continuously growing startup program on the Travel is Your Business podcast. Amadeus for Startups, originally started in 2014, has now expanded across the globe including the Americas, Asia and Europe. Kerri believes that the program will continue to grow, especially with the increase of emerging ideas in the travel technology industry.
In the interview, Kerri expands on new disruptors, ongoing challenges for new travel companies, and what Amadeus for Startups offers to support the newest advancements in travel technology.
Free Bird Travel is just one of many new startups disrupting the industry and partnering with Amadeus. The B2B company uses Amadeus’ online systems to ease the burden on corporate travelers with cancelled flights to quickly and cheaply rebook another flight.
Kerri further discusses that one of the greatest challenges within the travel industry has been the infrastructure, which moves very slowly due to complications and regulations. This can discourage startups as they present new challenges and try to disrupt the industry. However, Amadeus for Startups provides connections to well-established players, which can become key points of entry in introducing, developing, and maintaining a presence for startups. This “White Glove Approach” frequently referenced in the podcast drives home the idea of providing tools and resources to a company with potential in order to allow them to meet their goals, benefitting the group as well as Amadeus.
