Saudi Telecom Company (STC), Mobily and Zain have all been fined by Saudi Arabia’s Communications and Information Technology Commission (CITC), it was announced on Tuesday.
STC was fined a total of SAR 12.47 million for violations of the telecom system. Mobily was fined SAR 1.65 million, and Zain was fined SAR 296,000. The CITC said all the penalties are final.
The fines come a day after Mobily briefly was suspended from being able to offer new prepaid and postpaid plans for failing to reach targets for employing enough Saudi nationals as part of the kingdom’s Saudisation drive. Mobily’s suspension was lifted by the CITC on Monday.
