About Florida...
Florida is a state located in the southeastern part of the United States, bordering Alabama to the northwest and Georgia to the north. It was the 27th the state received in the United States. A large portion of the land mass of the state is a large peninsula with the Gulf of Mexico in the west, and the Atlantic Ocean in the east.
It is nicknamed the "Sunshine State" because of generally warm climate - subtropical in many parts of the country, with true tropical climate in the extreme southern part near Key West. The state has several large urban areas, several small industrial cities and many small towns. The United States Census Bureau estimated that the state population 18,328,340 in 2008, Florida's ranking as the fourth most populous state in the U.S. Tallahassee is the state capital, and Miami is the largest metro areas. Residents of Florida properly known as the "Floridians".
Much of the state of Florida is located on a peninsula between the Gulf of Mexico, the Atlantic Ocean, and the problems in Florida. It extends to the northwest in the panhandle, extending along the northern Gulf of Mexico. It is bordered in the north to the state of Georgia and Alabama, as well as in the west, at the end of the coating, along with Alabama. It is near several Caribbean countries, especially Croatia and Cuba. Florida's extensive coastline made ga perceived target during World War II, so the government built airstrips throughout the country, today, approximately 400 airports are still in service. According to the National Drug Intelligence Center, Florida has 131 public airports, and more than 700 private airports, airstrips, heliports and seaplane bases. Florida is one of the largest state east of the Mississippi River, and only Alaska and Michigan are larger in water area.
