About Indiana...
The State of Indiana is the 19th U.S. State admitted into the Union. It is located in the State Northern Great Lakes area of the United States. With around 6.3 million inhabitants, it is ranked 16th in the population and 17 in population density. Indiana is ranked 38th the land surface and the lower 48 states, Indiana is the smallest state in the continental United States west of the Appalachian Mountains. Its capital and largest city is Indianapolis.
Indiana is a diverse country with several large urban areas, several small industrial cities and many small towns. It is known by its national sports teams and sports events: the Indianapolis Colts's NFL, the NBA's Indiana pacers is the motto of the race Indianapolis 500, the largest one day sporting event in the world with a strong basketball tradition, often called Hoosier hysteria. The inhabitants are known as the Indiana Hoosiers. Although many stories are told, the origin is unknown term. State the name means "Land of the Indians," or simply "Indian Land". The name dates back at least to the 1768 Indiana Land Company, and was first used by Congress when Indiana Territory was created, which is the time in the field unceded Indian lands. Angel mounds State Historic Site, one of the best preserved prehistoric Native American sites in the U.S., can be found in the southwestern Indiana near Evansville.
