Nebraska is a state located on the Great Plain in the United States in the Western and Midwestern United States. State capital is Lincoln and Omaha is the largest city.
Nebraska probably gets its name from the archaic Otoe words Ni Brásge threatened contemporary Otoe Neither Bráhge or Omaha Neither Btháska meaning "flat water" after the Platt river that flows through the state. American Indian Tribes in Nebraska are included in the Iowas, Omahas, Missourias, Poncas, Pawnees, Otoes, and various branches of the Sioux.
Once considered part of the great American Desert, it is now a leading farming and ranching state.
State is South Dakota is bordered to the north, east to Iowa and Missouri to the southeast, across the Missouri River, Kansas in the south, southwest Colorado, and Wyoming to the west. The state has 93 counties, it occupies the central part of the border strip. Nebraska is divided into two time zones. Central Time zone comprises the eastern half of the state, while the western half observes Mountain Time. Three rivers cross the state from west to east. The Platt River flows through the heart, the Niobrara River flows through the northern part of the state regions, and the Republican River traverses through the southern part of the state.
