About North Dakota...
North Dakota is a state located in the Midwestern and Western regions in the United States of America. North Dakota is 19th largest state in the U.S. territory, it is the 3rd the least populated, with more than 640,000 residents since 2006. North Dakota was carved from the northern half of the Dakota Territory and admitted to the Union as the 39th state November 2, 1889.
The Missouri River flows through the western part of the state and forms Lake Sakakawea behind the defending garrison. The western half of the state is hilly and contains lignite coal and oil. In the east, the Red River forms the Red River Valley, holding fertile land. Agriculture has long dominated the economy and culture of North Dakota. Bismarck state capital and largest city is Fargo. The primary public universities are located in Grand forks and Fargo. The United States Air Force operates bases at both Minot and Grand forks. North Dakota is considered to be in the U.S. region known as the Upper Midwest and the Great Plain, and is sometimes called the "high plains". States shares the Red River in the north to Minnesota in the east, South Dakota is in the south, Montana is to the west, and the Canadian provinces of Manitoba and Saskatchewan the north.
