Ohio is a Midwestern state of the United States. Thirty-fourth largest country by area in the U.S., this is the seventh-most populous with nearly 11.5 million inhabitants. Ohio, whose name means "large creek", was formed in the first row of the Ohio Territory and was admitted into the Union as the seventeenth state and under the Northwest Ordinance, March 1, 1803. Ohio is known as the "buckeye State" for its prevalence Ohio buckeye tree, and as such, Ohioans are also known as "Buckeyes."
Government of Ohio consists of the executive, led by the governor, legislative branch, which includes the Ohio General Assembly and judicial authorities, which led to the Supreme Court. Currently, Ohio occupies 18 seats in the U.S. House of Representatives. Ohio is known for its status as a swing state, and leader in national elections. The population density of Ohio ranks ninth among all U.S. states. However, Ohio is currently suffers from negative net migration of population and increase unemployment.
