Low-cost airline WOW air is to launch flights to India from its Icelandic hub, from December 6. Passengers will take off from London Gatwick, with a stop-over in Iceland, before the ten-and-a-half hour onward journey to Delhi.
The route marks the next step in the carrier’s cross continental expansion, following the launches of a series of transatlantic services over the past three years.
The airline says fares will start from as little as £149 one way including taxes, or from £499 one-way including taxes for premium.
Skúli Mogensen, founder and CEO of WOW air, said: “We are delighted to announce our network expansion in to India. This exciting new route is an important milestone in the growth of WOW air and signifies our continuing mission to open the skies and enable even greater travel possibilities, always at the best rates possible.”
Operating three times a week, the route from Iceland to Delhi will be serviced by the airline’s new A330neo wide body jet liner, increasing to five times per week from January 2019. Flights from London Gatwick to Reykjavik operate twice daily.
